2011 RBC Hike for Hospice raises $125,000

The 2011 RBC Hike for Hospice held on Sunday, May 1st was an enormous success. Our goal was surpassed and thanks to our generous community, we have now raised $125,000.00 in cash donations. Over 650 people participated in the Hike, including numerous families and friends whose loved ones have lived their final journey at the Hospice.

The Board, staff and volunteers of the Sudbury Hospice would like to express their appreciation to all participants and sponsors, starting with our Title Sponsor – RBC, including our honorary chair, Glen Kelsey, RBC Regional Vice-President for Northern Lakes, RBC Dominion Securities and the RBC Foundation for Volunteerism.

Special thanks go out to our other Hike Sponsors: Vale, Cambrian Insurance, Reliable, Reliance Home Comfort, McQueen's Furniture, Tangles, Central Printers, Medigas, Pete's Rental, Piller's Meats, Fuel Media & Media Concepts. We would also like to recognize our media partners who helped promote the Hike: CTV, Northern Life, EastLink, Rewind 103.9, KFM 95.5, Le Voyageur & Le Loup 98.9. Thank you for joining our Hospice Family.

The Hospice would also like to give tribute to community partners who contributed to the success of our Hike: the children and parents of Better Beginning Better Futures, Bayshore Home Health, the North East Community Care Access Centre, Battistelli's YIG, The Children of Charm Plus, the Greater Sudbury Parks & Recreation Department, Sudbury EMS, and Brad (Elvis) Rose and Doug Chase for their musical performance.

All the funds raised at the RBC Hike for Hospice stay in our community and go towards operating costs of our community residential hospice. Join us for our next fundraiser on August 21 for our Roulons pour la Maison Vale Wheels for Hospice. Check out our website for more details @
